Treasures of the Church
Often times hidden, they can be found in the most unexpected places By Wayne Gignac Saint Lawrence, a deacon under Pope Sixtus II during the reign of the Emperor Valerian, was given three days by the Roman Prefect to bring to the imperial palace the treasures of the Church. Quickly Lawrence sold off all the vessels and distributed the money to the widows, the sick and the poor. After three days had elapsed, he returned but he did not return alone.  The imperial forces, greedily expecting to see gold, silver, and precious jewels, were enraged when the humble deac...

CT Catholic Men's Conference is This Saturday
Gratitude I am writing this during a very hectic week as we prepare for the Connecticut Catholic Men’s conference on Saturday, October 19, 2019.  It’s not too late to buy your ticket (click here).  And if it is necessary you can purchase one at the door.  Please be sure to invite a friend. Many homilies about gratitude were given recently because of the Gospel reading.  It had me thinking that so many good things happen after we act with gratitude.  Personally, I am grateful that our small committee becomes an integral part of...

Posted on October 04, 2019 in: 40DaysForLife, ProLife

OFF TO A GREAT START !
Thanks to a number of parishes and churches, and hard-working pro-life reps, we began our 40 Days For Life campaign with a great turnout. Following the kick-off Vigil Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, prayer warriors were out and about at 12 Case St. early the next morning. Even though we didn’t have the first day adopted by a parish, we still managed to cover the hours. Many thanks to the parishioners from St. John’s in Uncasville, St. Matthias in East Lyme, St. Agnes in Niantic, St. Michaels in Pawcatuck, All Saints in Somers, St. Patrick’s Cathe...

During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.  Bishop Cotes Column from the October Four...
