Praying Your Goodbyes

~Bereavement Day of Prayer ~

The Diocesan Catholic Family Services Office is sponsoring two workshops for the bereaved entitled:

Praying Your Goodbyes

Both workshops will include time for private reflection, prayer and journaling, and will give participants suggestions on how to navigate the upcoming holidays, and discover ways to grow through the experience of their loss.

It will be offered on two separate dates:

Thursday, November 7
9 A.M. to 12 P.M.
St. Sebastian Parish Hall,
155 Washington St., Middletown

Saturday, November 9
1 P.M. to 4 P.M.
St Mary Church Hall,
70 Central Ave., Norwich.

There is no cost for either workshop, but registration is required.

Faith Overflowing: Hundreds Gather to Venerate the Relics of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina

The faithful filled every pew, and then some, at a special Mass celebrated yesterday by The Most Reverend Richard F. Reidy, Bishop of Norwich, as the relics of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) were made available for veneration. Arriving a half hour before Mass, visitors already found the parking lots overflowing and nearby streets lined with cars. The main body of the church filled quickly, while hundreds more gathered in the adjoining auditorium to watch a live video feed. The atmosphere was reverent, expectant, and deeply prayerful. Deacon Richard “Rick” Kenneth Walker December 13, 1942 – October 2, 2025 Deacon Richard “Rick” Walker, 82, entered eternal life on October 2, 2025. I recently returned from two weeks in Rome where, with about two hundred other recently appointed bishops from around the world, we attended a school for new bishops. We were hosted at the College of Saint Paul the Apostle, a seminary where missionary priests are trained. Presentations were made by cardinals and archbishops from various Vatican offices.
