Recently the third through sixth grade faith formation students at St. Matthew Church completed a stewardship project benifitting refugees and immigrants that are being helped by Sr. Mary Jude from the parish of Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Windham and the organization IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services) from New Haven.
The students gathered donations and filled two-gallon zip lock baggies with essential items for the refugees and immigrants. Accompanied by a welcome card the bags included toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, deodorant, dish soap, notebooks, pens, winter hats and winter gloves,
Holding welcome kits are two representatives of New haven based IRIS . They are pictured with Carol Freedman and John Bouley of the St. Matthew Church Justice & Peace Ministry.
