How One School Celebrated New England Catholic Schools Week

The week of November 4 – 8th was devoted to New England Catholic Schools Week. The students and families of St. Mary – St. Joseph School in Willimantic, celebrated the week by having several events that honored our uniqueness!  We kicked off the week with Buddy Day. Upper students got together with their younger reading buddies and collaborated on two projects; making Veteran’s Day cards and puzzle pieces.  Students painted, glued, and designed handmade thank you cards to hand out to our Veteran friends at the special Veteran’s Day Prayer Service. Students also decorated their own puzzle piece to help create one big puzzle for display in the School’s lobby.

The All Saints’ Mass was presented by Mrs. Peay’s 3rd Grade Class. Father Larry LaPointe celebrated the Mass with the school. Saints included St. Julianna, St Francis of Assisi, St. Anne, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Elizabeth of Portugal, and St. Rose of Lima.

Parents, friends, and family members were invited to enjoy lunch with their child. After lunch, everyone was treated to the Junior Drama Production – The Country Store Cat. The actors did a fabulous job at their first performance and we thank the Middle School Stage Crew team for their help and support of these young actors.
