The 10th Annual Bike Ride for Haiti kicked off on Monday, September 30, with riders embarking on a 337-mile journey that mirrors the distance from one tip of Haiti to the other.
Over the course of five days, the Outreach to Haiti team has traveled through Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, raising both awareness and funds to support the mission of Outreach to Haiti.
This year, the riders had the opportunity to stop at several parishes and schools throughout Connecticut that are twinned with Haitian communities through the Outreach program.
One of the most meaningful visits was to the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich. There, the riders were warmly greeted by students from St. Patrick School, who lined the streets cheering them on, waving signs of support. Monsignor Anthony Rosaforte was also present to bless the riders, offering words of encouragement as they continue their journey to make a lasting impact in Haiti.
The purpose of the ride is to support critical programs in Haiti, including nutrition and dental care. Funds raised will go toward the infant and expectant mothers’ nutritional program as well as the building fund for the dental clinic— one of the greatest identified needs in the community of Christ Roi in Port-au-Prince.
Outreach to Haiti has been a light of inspiration in the region for nearly 40 years, offering healthcare, education, nutrition, and empowerment initiatives, with the guiding principle of “Helping Haitians Help Haitians.”
