Providing Help & Creating Hope Since 1921
Easter is a time for celebrating joy, new life, and hope.
Many of us will spend Easter surrounded by friends and family. There will be love to fill our hearts and food to enjoy. However, for some this Easter is another day of hardship and longing for a positive change in life.
Every day, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich, makes a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are on the edge of society. The goals of two agency programs, the Financial Empowerment Class and the Job Preparedness Program, provide our clients with skills and knowledge to create positive change, for themselves and their families, and to live within their limited budget. Catholic Charities also answers the call of the most vulnerable in our community by providing immediate relief with food and shelter at times of crisis and other support programs
Sacrifices that are made in love can change our community and the world. Over 2,000 years ago, a perfect Sacrifice made on a cross forever changed the future for all of us. Easter season challenges us to follow Christ’s example by making small acts of sacrificial love. By addressing these urgent needs, we serve as witnesses to the Gospel in the lives of those less fortunate.
When we give to address hunger, thirst and the pain of homelessness, we help our sisters and brothers regain their hope for a future. Together we are ensuring that children and families have the capacity to address the challenges in their lives and/to embrace the joy of Christ’s Easter promise.
I encourage you to put your faith into action this Easter season by offering blessings to our brothers and sisters in Christ’s holy name! Donating during this Easter season allows you to live, practice and act on the three Lenten pillars: prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Please consider making a Tax-Deductible Lenten gift to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich.
