Advent Is Here - He is About to Arrive

"Advent is here. What a marvelous time in which to renew desire, your nostalgia, your real longing for Christ to come...for Him to come every day to your soul in the Eucharist. The Church encourages us: ecce veniet! - He is about to arrive!"

St. Josemaria Escriva

During the four weeks of Advent, we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth through prayer and reflection. We contemplate the First Coming of Jesus as Savior and anticipate His promised Second Coming. Amid the flurry of Christmas preparations, we look for practical ways to observe the holiness of the season in our everyday lives. Click here to check out our Advent resources page to aid you in "renewing your desire, your nostalgia, your real longing for Christ to come".

To help you with this preparation we have gathered various Advent resources into one convenient location. There you will find Pope Francis's apostolic letter, Admirabile signum, on the meaning and importance of nativity scenes, a blessing prayer for an Advent wreath or manger, an Advent calendar, and weekly videos and reflections from ministry staff and clergy of the Diocese of Norwich.

Are you looking to go deeper into your faith-if so, you will find Commentary on the Proper Prayers of Advent from the Roman Missal as well as Lectio Divina for Advent.

Holiday Greetings from the Communications Office As we enter the 2024 Advent season, we reflect on the beauty and significance of the Nativity scene, or Christmas crèche—a cherished tradition that began over 800 years ago.
